We have been privileged to have sold some stunning Asian art and antiques over the last few years, including a Qianlong period cloisonne bowl for £72,000, a porcelain plaque by Xui Zhongnam for £42,000, and a 'dou' stem bowl for £36,000.
To build on these successes, we are thrilled to welcome Dr Jun Kong to the team to run a specialist Asian Art department.
Jun came to the UK in 2006 and earned a science PhD degree from the University of Cambridge, where he developed a deep appreciation for Asian art through a variety of exhibitions, lectures, and cultural events. His passion for Asian art, particularly Chinese porcelain, has driven him to spend his leisure time collecting and researching artworks. As an avid Chinese art collector, Jun has participated in the Chinese version of “Antiques Roadshow” and contributed as an overseas editor for Asian Art Pacific magazine. He is also an active member of the Oriental Ceramic Society and regularly participates in its events and activities. In 2023, Jun furthered his expertise by obtaining an MA in the History of Art and Archaeology of East Asia from SOAS, University of London.
As head of the Asian Art department, Dr Kong will be curating two specialist auctions per year to include porcelain, bronzes, paintings and other Asian works of art. He possesses a profound knowledge of Asian artworks, specialising in identification and valuation, thanks to over a decade of hands-on experience participating in more than 500 auctions across the UK and China. His practical auction insights, combined with his strong academic background in science and art, fuel his dedication to the dynamic auction industry and his evolving career. At LSK, Jun is responsible for sourcing Asian artworks and organising two specialised sales annually.
The first of these sales will be a single-owner offering of Chinese porcelain and other works of art to be held on Friday 15th November.
Entries are invited for the following auction to be held in Spring 2025; Dr Kong will be at the auction centre for drop-in valuations on the following dates 18th Sept, 10th Oct, 30th Oct, 20th Nov, and 18th Dec, or email details to asianart@lsk.co.uk.
